Tasks

As our Backend AI Developer with a Splash of MLOps, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining the backbone of our AI systems. While your focus will be on backend development, you’ll also support MLOps and DevOps tasks to ensure smooth operations and deployments.

Your tasks as Backend AI Developer with a Splash of MLOps (m/f/x):

Backend Development: Implementation and maintenance of backend services, primarily in Python (FastAPI), to support AI tools and RAG systems.

• Backend Development: Building and maintaining backend services in Python (FastAPI) to support AI tools and systems.
• Prompt Engineering: Developing and optimizing prompts for AI models to improve performance and usability.
• Embeddings Expertise: Working with embeddings to enhance AI capabilities, such as search and recommendation systems.
• Database Management: Tweaking and managing databases (PostgreSQL) for efficient data storage and processing.
• Containerization: Deploying applications in Docker containers and managing them with Portainer.
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
• LLM Hosting: Hosting and optimizing large language models (LLMs) on GPUs (NVIDIA).
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): Managing deployments on AKS and leveraging Azure OpenAI Services.
• Document Extraction: Development of solutions for extracting content from various document formats (e.g., PDF, MS Office).
• Testing and Quality Control: Conducting automated and manual tests to verify the quality of search and LLM results.
• Collaboration: Working closely with the AI team to integrate and deploy machine learning models into existing systems.
• Support and Troubleshooting: Assisting with the resolution of technical issues during the development and integration of AI tools and models.
• Optional: Model Training: Training models based on sample data.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about technology, loves learning new things, and can juggle backend development with a splash of MLOps.

What you should bring:

Must:

• Backend Development Expertise: Strong Python skills, especially with FastAPI.
• CI/CD Knowledge: Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab, GitHub, Azure Container Registry and Jenkins, and the ability to support and maintain pipelines.
• Database Knowledge: Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Docker Proficiency: Ability to create and optimize Docker containers.
• LLM Hosting Experience: Familiarity with hosting and optimizing large language models on GPUs (NVIDIA).
• Prompt Engineering: Experience in developing and optimizing prompts for AI models.
• Embeddings Expertise: Knowledge of working with embeddings for tasks like semantic search and recommendations.
• Azure Knowledge: Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure OpenAI Services.
• Testing Skills: Solid experience in automated and manual testing.
• Language Skills: Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.

Nice-to-have:

• Frontend Basics: While not a focus, some knowledge of Angular or other frontend frameworks is a plus.
• Cloud AI Models: Experience with integrating OpenAI or other cloud-based AI models.
• Language Skills: Good German skills, both written and spoken (and if you speak Viennese, even better).
